A native of Boston, MA, percussionist Chris DeChiara received his education from New England Conservatory (MM) with Academic Honors and Distinction in Performance and from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (BM), graduating cum laude. He has performed with the Boston Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Philharmonic, Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Concert Artists of Baltimore, Arlo Guthrie, Maynard Ferguson, and Arturo Sandoval. He has participated in the summer festivals of the Rome Festival Orchetsra, Italy; Aspen Music Festival, Colorado; Spoleto, South Carolina; Schleswig in Germany, and was principal percussionist of the World Philharmonic concert in Bonn, Germany, 1999. Published articles appear in the 2000 and 2005 issues of the nationwide magazine, Modern Drummer. Chris appears on the EMI label of the world premiere recording of Kurt Weill’s Die Burgshaft opera. A frequent performer in musical theater, he recently performed with Broadway composer, Jason Robert Brown and Wesley Taylor from the NBC sitcom “Smash.”
In addition to ANCO, Chris is currently a member and soloist with the United States Navy Band, drummer of the local cover band, Dr.FU, and principal percussionist with the award winning new music group, Great Noise Ensemble. Chris resides in Burke, VA.
